Our Mission

Livable Berkeley promotes ideas and policies that make our community a better place to live, work, learn, and raise a family. We embrace great governance, environmental sustainability, economic vitality, and equity as the foundation of urban excellence.

Livable Berkeley sponsors educational events and organizes to support good governance and city policies that make Berkeley a more vibrant, sustainable, and welcoming city. By working to shape how growth occurs within our City, we can maintain and enhance all that is important to us about our neighborhoods, our diversity, and the greater Bay Area.

We’re a coalition of citizens, environmental leaders, social equity advocates, design professionals, city planners and progressive builders. Since 2003, Livable Berkeley has been promoting sustainable land use and transportation choices in Berkeley in order to reduce our impact on the environment and make our city more livable. As of 2015, Livable Berkeley is also focusing on improving local governance to make the City more responsive and accountable to Berkeley residents.
